"Radhe Shyam" - The only name that comes to mind when you hear this title is Prabhas. The face that comes to mind after that is Pooja Hegde.
Promoted as the biggest budget love story film in the country.
Radha Krishnakumar directed such a huge film. Sometime six and a half years ago, he directed a film called "Jill", a director who did not make much history except writing dialogues for the previous two films.
Vamsi Pramod, the producer who ventured into producing the film with a budget of Rs 300-350 crore, relied on such a director.
If Prabhas being the hero is the main reason, another important reason for interest in the film is that he appears as a palmistry astrologer.
The mention of the film being shot in the backdrop of 1970 in Italy and the appearance in the trailer of the stunning visuals related to it is another thing to raise expectations on the film.
Usually the songs in this level of films are sung before the release and ring in the ears. But no matter how many views there are on YouTube, it does not seem to be as popular as the songs in the recent big movies. That was the main minus in the case of this film before its release. However expectations were low but did not materialize.
Although not associated with the film, Rajamouli also promoted the film in his own style due to his association with Prabhas.

It is a film that tells us to believe in destiny and the hand lines that represent that destiny. It is also the story of how only 1% of the population who fought and won against Destiny will go down in history. No matter how you look at it, "You have to believe in horoscopes..but you have to work hard to overcome horoscopes and get what you want .." is the essence of this story.
There are a lot of people in the society who believe in palmistry and horoscopes even though they say that it is not scientific, that it is not scientific and that the predictions are not true all the time. So if a film is made on that base, the film will be made with the intention that more people will become spectators to themselves.
However, Prabhas is an All India Range Mass Hero. He was introduced to the country by "Bahubali" as a warrior holding swords. Appeared in "Saho" as an action hero crushed with Modern Fights.
However in this "Radhe Shyam" he does no fights, teases the heroine, believes in horoscopes and makes many anti-mass-hero decisions with that belief. Hardcore Prabhas fans may not like all this.
Made a big experiment as an all-knowing daring. Not wrong though. But there are three big mistakes made in the directing department.
1. No matter how many actors there are, they do not write the right characters and do not give scope to act.
2. Replacing a 1970s Italian set in Italy at a cost of hundreds of crores when not needed
3. The inability to make good songs for the love story in people's mouths like me
Prabhas played the mother of the then "love pigeons" actress Bhagyashree. But she showed no affection in the middle of the son. Asalame's character prominence has not been established.
Kunal Roy Kapoor was brought in as Prabhas' friend. Unnecessary padding was of no use to the story unless he was an artist.
A good actor like Murali Sharma does not put at least a good close-up but dialogue.
All of them seem to be in a trance whether they are in the story or not. That's an error in the script.
Most important of all are the songs. Then came the movie "1942 A Love Story". The love story in the title is all about the independence movement in the background. Every song in it is a super hit.
This "Radhe Shyam" is also a love story by name. The background is palmistry. Week watching songs.
Gitanjali, Sakhi or any other love story are all musical hits. That situation does not exist here in Radhe Shyam.
That being said, there are some impressive elements in this film.
The dialogue between King Krishna and the scientists is strong. The argument between orthodox science and science is delicately touched.
In the first episode the scene where the hero and heroines stay on a separate bus and converse through the mist on the window is fun.
It is a film that says that it is unscientific to believe that only what is known is true and that what is unknown is false.
The background music is excellent. Taman provided the background score for Mystic Scenes similar to that composed by AR Rehman in Rajinikanth Baba. The visual and background score that kept this film going until the very end.
Says one in astrology. The man's horoscope and his attempt both collide like stumps. Whichever of the two is stronger it wins. The same thing is shown with the same meaning if not with that example in Malisagam.
Prabhas is very good on screen. The graphics budget for his looks seems to be tight. Pooja is as good as ever.
No matter how you look at it, it is a movie that gets more marks as a Jyotisha main movie than a love story. Those who like that subject will also like this movie.
Single screens may not reach as many audiences as multiplex audiences.
There is a thin love line on the screen but not as Jerrypot as advertised. Aishwarya Rekha in the hands of the producer, Kirtirekha in the hands of Prabhas and the result of the film in a few days.
